Our Senator Guided Tour of the Nation's Capital
While on our trip to Washington D.C., the NHD Idaho chapter arranged a tour for us of the Capital with our senior senator from Idaho. The National History Day staff had it scheduled for Sept. 12. We arrived and were greeted by an aide who told us that our senator would not be giving the tour as planned, but the aide would. We had a great time and it was very educational. Upon our return, I wanted to get a couple of pictures in front of our distinguished senator's office and name plaque. You can read it on Corbin's picture, if you click on the photo and look closely. The tour was long and we did have to use the bathroom a few times during it.

Hmmm ... did the junior Senator not want to assist you? Perhaps if you had some connections with his office, that would have been helpful? ;-)
Thank you to our contact with our Jr Senator's office for having personal letters of congratulations mailed to each of the NHD finalists in our group. We hope our contact had fun giving the guided tour of Cooperstown. If we make it back next year (Carter would like to), we hope to get hooked up with our Jr Senator's contact. She comes highly recommended and is in great demand.
That is too bad you couldn't meet your scandalous, I mean distinguished senior senator. Do your boys know anything about him?
You are welcome back any time, and by next summer, I should even have enough empty bedrooms in my house to host you. I've been working on the Senator's website tourist section, so there is plenty of information there to plan a very busy week (or more). In fact, I've decided that there is way too much here that we haven't seen. That will fill up a few Saturdays; Daniel will certainly be thrilled.
