Our Senator Guided Tour of the Nation's Capital

While on our trip to Washington D.C., the NHD Idaho chapter arranged a tour for us of the Capital with our senior senator from Idaho. The National History Day staff had it scheduled for Sept. 12. We arrived and were greeted by an aide who told us that our senator would not be giving the tour as planned, but the aide would. We had a great time and it was very educational. Upon our return, I wanted to get a couple of pictures in front of our distinguished senator's office and name plaque. You can read it on Corbin's picture, if you click on the photo and look closely. The tour was long and we did have to use the bathroom a few times during it.

Grandma & Haley's Visit

Thanks Grandma & Haley for driving up from Orem to entertain the boys while we finished out our stay in the hospital. They did a lot of fun things together and when they left, had a delicious chicken dinner cooking in the crockpot.

Meridianite's Reunite

With Jim & Karin's family arriving back in Meridian yesterday the Meridianites (Hawkes, Hills, Christensens) were reunited. We had a great time playing ball, holding babies, jumping on the tramp, going to the park, and listening to our new fighter pilot hero tell us about A10's. We look forward to March when we will all be together again.

Chase's Viola

Chase decided to play the viola this year at his new school. It has taken a lot of commitment. Because most of the 5th graders in orchestra also took it last year, Chase has to give up his lunch recess 4 days a week to catch up. He comes home everyday and practices, too. He does get rather frustrated trying to get a good sound to come out at these beginning stages, but we are so impressed with his dedication.

Our Summer Vacation

Carter won the National History Day competition for the State of Idaho so the whole family accompanied him back to Washington DC for the National competition. While there, we also visited some other locations and had a great time.

Our New Home

We started living in our new home on August 23rd. It is great to finally be in a home with real beds and couches and furniture! The professional movers moved all our things into our new home in early June based on a "guaranteed" original closing date that kept getting postponed a few weeks at a time. It went on for the entire summer! The buyers of our previous home developed unforeseen problems so we "temporarily" slept on air mattresses with no other furniture in the old house until the sale was finalized. We're happy everything was settled in time for school to start and before Chloe was born!

Where was Carter?

You may have noticed that Carter is missing at the hospital from the slideshow below. He had his first football game for his middle school team, the Heritage Huskies. After his game, he was able to come to the hospital to see his new little sis. His game started right after school, so Larry ran out to the sideline to tell him the good news. He was pretty excited!
